I see two new features that look fantastic, but the rest of the UI seems likely unchanged. I’ll definitely give it a shot though.

GIMP is unfortunately not a good competitor, the UX/UI is atrocious, and that’s after spending 25 years using it now… I switched to Krita for most things at this point. GIMP needs some sort of revamp.

Collection of personal data is arguably worth money to them though, for advertising and whatever else they’re doing.

A lot of their chips are fab’d in the US and Israel and Germany and others though. It’s weird that nobody has mentioned all their US fabs. The new ones coming up in Ohio shortly (construction has been going already) will be two next-gen fab plants.

Have to agree sadly. I searched and followed many people, still my feed is completely devoid of anything useful or interesting. I can keep digging but I feel like a 1% incremental gain from weeks of trying to set the network/profile up and giving zero results feels like a lost cause to some extent. I periodically check back, and it’s more of the same unfortunately.

GrapheneOS offers such an auto-reboot feature (18 hours by default, but the users can set it between 10 minutes and 72 hours), while the iPhone picked up something similar with iOS 18.1 (Inactivity Reboot) last year.

I was referring primarily to things that are known to be good security practices and widely known and used already. Keeping data more secure at rest goes with the “don’t trust anything or anyone” goal, and if not doing it on Android due to said trust or lack thereof, then GrapheneOS offers it too at least.

The irony is that had the previous administration followed what Obama and Clinton and every other previous administration did on the border topic, they would have won in a landslide. I’ve exclusively used firefox to watch youtube on Arch and Ubuntu for years, never had a problem so far for what it’s worth. I keep a laptop in the livingroom with Arch specifically to have adblocking and piping the video out to the TV. The youtube apps are terrible on the Roku last I remember, haven’t tried it in forever but I think the main reason was I didn’t want to see ads anymore.
