My orange cat had curled up next to my four year old kid this morning. The kid rolled over in his sleep, snuggled into the cat like a teddy, and he just accepted it.
My other cat is the cat in the meme though, even though she is the one who chooses to sleep on top of me.
When I had a kitty that slept on me, if I wanted to turn over, I would put my arms under the blanket and lift her up in a sort of makeshift cat-hammock and turn my body underneath, then set her back down. She didn’t mind it. But if I moved in a way that she wasn’t sure was intentional, she would firmly tap the body part in question with her paw, three times. I miss that girl so much.
When I was a kid we had a family cat who would burrow under my blankets and curl up next to my legs to sleep. However, if I moved even a slight bit she would bite and scratch me. It was kind of traumatizing.
Had a cat who woke me up that way
My mother couldn’t get me out of bed, so she just sent the cat, which would do under the blankets and bite my toes.
If I resisted to much though, she would get caring and start to grab my head and lick my hair - always the same place, until it would get sore, and hung over teenager me gave in and still got up.
She would often sleep in my hands at night, curled up under the blanket. But in the morning, she was my mother’s demon to kill my dreams…
Mine lays on me in such a way that I have to audition for Cirque du Soleil so I can turn over, after which she promptly tells me I have “done a bad” and gets in my face to demand pets as recompense before going back to laying on me in the most space-consuming manner possible.
Forget manspreading. Catspreading is far more spatially offensive.
When my kitties were kittens they would attack anything that moved under the sheets.
I am so glad my cat grew out of that. My leg would be a stump by now if she kept it up

A cat I had growing up loved to attack the ‘bed mice’ (People’s toes) and one day he did that to my dad, who wasn’t warned.
Cat got fucking yeeted halfway down the hall when dad launched him half asleep.
Cat tried to come back for more cause he was an idiot.

He felt super bad when he woke up enough to realize what happened! But then felt less bad when he realized the cat was coming back for more. Cause the cat was a dingus. Loved that cat. Managed to teach him how to ask for a door to be opened.
One of ours sometimes does that. He often sleeps on my feet at night, and usually I can move some without getting attacked, but sometimes he does claw me.
My cat’s main redeeming feature is that I can slide my legs under her entirely to readjust positions and sometimes she doesn’t even look at me. Try to touch her, on the other hand, and it’s death.

When we were kids, my sister had this grumpy-as-fuck female calico. Whenever sis fell asleep on the couch, Heidi would curl up on top of sister’s head. Looked like a calico-colored chapka.
I have a half husky that was raised by cats and we joke she has cat software. This is her to a T.
When you can’t afford feeding an entire dog and have to make compromise.

Cut their claws, I taught my adult cat that me touching his paws is okay and that sometimes he gets a trim. We can now “spar” all the time because he just doesn’t have sharp points to claw me with. He can make biscuits on me all he wants, jump on me, off me etc.
I would not recommend that unless you know what you are doing. Unlike other animals, the claws of cats have living tissue inside, which means a cut too far from the tip is like cutting off a fingertip and pretty painful, just be forewarned.
e: thats also the reason why declawing is brutal and inhumane - there are a lot of nerve endings there too
Declawing and cutting claws are very different things
yeah sure they are, i didn’t want to put those 2 things on the same level! i just wanted to say that you can’t cut them like you would with a dog’s claw without hurting your cat, and if in doubt, at least let the vet show you how first.
Dog’s claws also have living tissue and require extreme caution.

All animals have living tissue in their nails / claws / talons, birds, dogs, cats, etc. Trimming their nails is completely normal and part of a routine that keeps them healthy. Otherwise you run the risk of talons curving and going into the foot of a bird for instance. For cats, they can grow these huge dead nails in their rear legs for instance, they usually try to bite them off. Cutting the tip helps them peel off and get rid of those.
That’s why declawing is not only inhumane, it is 100% stupid - you can achieve the exact same “result” - your cat not being able to damage furniture - by providing them with a scratching post and regularly cutting their nails - without maiming your pet. There are more alternatives to declawing, like silicone covers for their claws too. The people who go for it are literally the worst.
Not really a problem often. Cats with light fur tend to have white nails and you can see the quick (the living part of the nail) really easily. There are also methods on how to cut the nail properly, with correct angles and specialized scissors. Even with dark-coloured claws, it isn’t hard to avoid it. Simply trimming the extremely sharp hook end is enough, you don’t need to cut half their claw off.
Declawing means removing a digit in a cats’ paw. It is a completely different process to what I’m describing here and is a horrific thing to do to a cat, basically maiming it in the process. It should only be done as last resort in illness to save a cats life, not to prevent it from scratching. It is basically the difference between cutting your nails so they are short, and cutting the end of your fingers so there is no nail to cut.
I’m trained to sleep around both cats.
My older cat will get upset when he gets too warm laying on me and will dramatically huff about it before leaving.
I had a cat called Percy, he’s passed now, who would snuggle up to me under the blankets. If I moved, he would let out a heartfelt sigh and resnuggle.
Some other cats: glares at you in the dark, slowly gets up and walks over to you, baps you right in your stupid face, goes back to warm spot and falls asleep, leaving you wondering where the fuck you went wrong.
